FAQ

This is a layout for Palmyrene block in Unicode, based on the US layout. It was designed to be intuitive, with a minimal learning curve. The layout is associated with Arabic (Syria) language, since Palmyrene Aramaic is not available in Windows.

Implementation notes:

• Alternative characters are available through Shift key.
• Numbers six to nine are composed of ligatures with the number five.
• You can use Ctrl+Left Shift to set paragraph to left-to-right and Ctrl+Right Shift to set it to right-to-left.
• Special characters are assigned as follows:
  • Ctrl+Shift+1 zero-width joiner
  • Ctrl+Shift+2 zero-width non-joiner
  • Ctrl+Shift+3 left-to-right marker
  • Ctrl+Shift+4 right-to-left marker

Font: Windows does not have a built-in font for Palmyrene. You might need to install Noto Sans Palmyrene.

Installation instructions:

1. Download and extract palmmne.zip (253 kB).
2. Run setup.exe.
3. Sign out our restart computer.
